Who are we



OPOP is the brainchild of teenage sweethearts, Ian & Carly. We met at school in 1995 during our school’s production of Grease.


Together we built The Café in the Park which we started in 2005 with the goal of serving great food at an accessible price to our community and sold in 2019, having taken turnover to £1m.


Carly was always driven by the belief that sustainable restaurants are not only good for the planet but also good for business Backing this up was Ian’s ability and knowledge as a Chartered Accountant to apply big business thinking to our single site restaurant. Together we brought a level of professionalism and technological change that helped guide our restaurant on its journey to profitability.


OPOP is our model for a restaurant that we’d like to eat in. It is our vision for a restaurant that combines all that is great about our industry whilst reimagining many of the practices we see as damaging to employees, suppliers and customers.


Our approach is simple, it is possible and it could be a blueprint for and the future of casual dining.
